The overall objective is: In line with promoting efficient functioning of markets in Malawi, as well as ensure consumer protection from unfair trading practices, the project seeks to enhance the Commissions legal and technical capacity to enforce competition and fair trading principles by business enterprises in all sectors of the economy.
The specific objectives are:
To enhance the Commission’s capacity in case handling and document management systems, including adoption of IMS;
To strengthen the the Commission’s legal frameworks through review of sectoral laws inconsistent with competition and consumer protection law;
To enhance the Commission’s capacity to effectively regulate and monitor markets through market surveillances and market studies/inquiries;
To strengthen the Commission’s capacity in enforcement of competition and consumer protection law through customized staff trainings; and
To enhance competition law and policy advocacy and awareness among all relevant stakeholders, thereby promoting voluntary compliance with the competition law.
