The overall objective is to contribute to the reduction of risks for the population and for the interventions financed by the European Union from the capacity building of the GVO - and the establishment of bases for the sustainability of the essential public services of the GVO.
The specific objectives are as follows:
  • Objective 1: Technically strengthen the GVO to refine the monitoring and risk analysis related to the exceptional activity of Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes by capitalizing the support of previous projects financed by European cooperation.
  • Objective 2: Work towards the institutional and scientific strengthening of the GVO from targeted support to the training program and the promotion of study visits and scientific exchanges.
  • Objective 3: Strengthen the sustainability of essential GVO services from the development of partnerships or other strategies
