Additional development of EU environment approximation for air, chemicals and horizontal acquis

The overall objective of the project is increased alignment with the EU environmental acquis, through improved strategic and institutional framework.
The purpose of the project is to achieve an enhanced strategic policy, legal and institutional environmental framework for selected priority directives in horizontal, air and chemical sectors:
  • Directive 2008/50/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe, including 4th daughter Directive (2004/107);
  • Directive (EU) 2016/2284 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2016 on the reduction of national emissions of certain atmospheric pollutants, amending Directive 2003/35/EC and repealing Directive 2011/81/EC;
  • Directive (EU) 2016/802 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 relating to a reduction in the sulphur content of certain liquid fuels;
  • Directive 98/70/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 October 1998 relating to the quality of petrol and diesel fuels and amending Council Directive 93/12/EEC;
  • Directive 94/63/EC of the European Parliament  and of the Council of 20 December 1994 on the control of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions resulting from the storage of petrol and its distribution from terminals to service stations (abbreviated as VOC I) and Directive 2009/126/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 on Stage II petrol vapour recovery during refuelling of motor vehicles at service stations (abbreviated as VOC II);
  • Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH);
  • Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use biocidal products;
  • Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2007 establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community.
The results to be achieved under this contract are the following:
1. Approximation Status Report for the EU air, chemical and horizontal Directives/Regulations;
2. (i) National Air Protection Strategy and Action Plan;
    (ii) Directive/Regulation Specific Implementation Plans;
3. Multiannual Investment Financing Plan.
