Deepening East African Community regional economic integration, through advancing the Customs Union and promoting free movement of Services, Arusha, Tanzania LOT 2: Supervision of delivery of LOT 1, EAC Customs Interconnectivity Integration System

The Overall Objective (OO) to which the project contributes is to support the deepening of the EAC regional economic integration, through advancing implementation of the Customs Union and the Common Market Protocols.

The Specific Objective (SO) of Lot 1 (East African Community Regional Customs Interconnectivity Integration System) and Lot 2 (Supervision delivery of Lot 1) focuses on moving towards a fully-fledged Customs Union, by supporting more robust ICT-based data exchange protocols for the clearing of goods as well as integration of related regional customs functions and systems (like risk management and valuation, Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System, Custom Transit Bonds, Single Window systems, etc.), appropriate processes for the involvement of other agencies i.e., standards, health, etc. as well as a stronger coordination and monitoring role of the EAC Secretariat.

LOT 2 is expected to supervise delivery of Lot 1 services and advise the EAC Secretariat on related matters to ensure effective implementation. This involves setting-up a supervision mechanism, monitor performance, confirm completion of implementation phases etc.
