Support for environmental governance and the implementation of conservation policies within the framework of the EU-Congo Forest Partnership

The overall objective of this assignment is to strengthen environmental governance and the sustainable management of natural resources in the Republic of Congo, by aligning national policies with international commitments and promoting the participation of all stakeholders.

Three specific objectives are targeted:

SO1: The Republic of Congo’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is revised.

SO2: The implementing texts of the Wildlife Law are drafted and validated through a participatory process.

SO3: Steering and monitoring committees (COPIL) for the national components of ODEBAC and NaturAfrica are organized.

Main deliverables:

The deliverables provided in the frame of this consultancy can be divided into three main outputs:

The Republic of Congo’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is revised

The comprehensive revision process of the Republic of Congo's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) is completed

The capacity of national stakeholders is strengthened

A resource mobilization plan is developed.

The implementing texts of the Wildlife Law are drafted and validated through a participatory process

Finalization of the promulgation of the Wildlife Law and its implementing texts

Participatory drafting of the implementing texts of the Wildlife Law

Effective implementation of legal and policy frameworks.

Steering and monitoring committees (COPIL) for the national components of ODEBAC and NaturAfrica are organized

A steering committee is established and operational, meeting annually

The capacities of COPIL members are strengthened

NaturAfrica projects are enhanced in terms of monitoring and evaluation
