Sectoral support for gap analysis and/or impact assessment: consumer protection, metrology, aquaculture

Morocco is currently engaging in a process of approximation of its legal and institutional framework to the EU Acquis, notably in the fields of consumer protection, metrology and aquaculture. These 3 specific sectors are identified as priority in the Chapter 6 ("Trade, Market and Regulatory Reform") of the Advanced Status Action Plan 2013-2017. The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the upgrading of the legal and institutional framework in the sectors of consumer protection, metrology and aquaculture, to facilitate an appropriate approximation to the requirements of the EU Acquis and European best practices. For each of the 3 sectors, the specific objective is: 1. Consumer protection: Update the assessment (conducted in 2014) of the gap between Moroccan law and European requirements and good practices, in connection with the National Strategy or its project. This assessment is to be provided together with a table of priorities and recommendations on how to reduce or eliminate the gap. Assess the impact of the recommendations aimed at strengthening the convergence process in the sector. 2. Metrology: Assess the gap between Moroccan law and European requirements and best practices in this sector, with a prioritization table and recommendations to be adopted to reduce or eliminate the gap. Assess the impact of recommendations to strengthen the convergence process in the sector. 3. Aquaculture Assess the impact of the recommendations aimed at strengthening the convergence process in the sector.
